It is with great pride and excitement that President & Founder Porntip Bui Simon announced the selection of the next generation of Angels Wings Thai Scholarship hopefuls on June 21, 2019. Forty-one high school senior students of Thai descent from the states of California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington have been named as recipients of the 2019 Angels Wings Foundation’s Thai Scholarship. The selection process was particularly difficult this year due to the increased number of applicants, which tripled from the previous year.Simon awarded 10 additional students this year bringingAngels Wings total three-year effort to over 100 incredible recipients.

In celebration of the 2019 recipients, Porntip Bui Simon in partnership with the Royal Consul-General Mungkorn Pratoomkaew, hosted a celebration to recognize and honor the students and their families in Los Angeles on August 3, 2019.

"These students are extremely inspiring. We have discovered extraordinary individuals who are the first in their family to attend college, an orphan who came to the U.S. to live with her grandparents in hopes for a better life and students who are working jobs to support their family and remarkably achieving 4.0 and above GPA’s. One student who despite suffering abuse andhomelessness has persevered by graduating with honors and was accepted to her dream school of MIT. I am impressed with all our recipients and their hard work which has led them to the doors of coveted schools such as Harvard, MIT, Yale, Berkeley, Stanford, UCLA, UC Irvine, USC to name a few; but what leaves the biggest imprint on my heart is hearing about their remarkable stories of courage, dedication and resilience to get there,” said President & Founder Bui Simon.
